Strong both on the theories of lighting and practical approaches. Features many photographs showing the different affects of light changes in the same setup. 
Millerson has worked for the BBC for many years. He t gives a throughout background on nature of light, perception and principles of lighting, followed by lighting people and groups and an explanation of the production precess. The book also shows the commonly used lights, filters and visual effects, and concludes with a rundown on safety issues.
