Film Organisations

BECTU, (Broadcasting Entertainment Cinematograph and Theatre Union) is the independent trade (labour) union for those working or seeking employment in the broadcasting, film, theatre, entertainment, leisure and allied industries who are primarily based in the United Kingdom.
The union represents non-performance workers within these industries, whether permanently employed, contract or freelance. You can subscribe to their e-mail list here.
BECTU offers a public liability insurance to every member for free, as well as legal advice, a weekly vacancy list and a magazine.

The Moving Image Society, also BKSTS, is the Society for (mainly) technicians in the film & tv industry.

The Maine-International Film and Video Workshops in Rockport Maine (USA) have intensive workshops in many aspects of Cinematography, including "Lighting for Film" with top notch instructers using current equipment. They also have degree programs, etc.
